Coach Will Smith is entering his ninth season of coaching baseball all of which has been at Faith Academy. In his first four seasons he was the Junior Varsity head coach and assisted the Varsity part-time under Head Coach Lloyd Skoda. In 2015, Coach Smith joined the Varsity staff full time under Head Coach Matt Seymour coaching hitters and infielders. Coach Smith has been an integral part of Faith’s staff which in the course of three years won over 100 games and reached the State Finals three times, winning the school’s first State Championship as a member of the AHSAA in 2018. Over that course of time, numerous offensive and defensive records have been broken in the school’s tradition rich baseball program, including 39 homeruns in 2018.
Coach Smith graduated from Faith Academy in 2011, lettering in baseball four years while winning the 2008 AISA State Championship. In 2015 he graduated from the University of South Alabama with a Bachelor’s in Exercise Physiology. In 2015, Coach Smith began working at Faith Academy full-time teaching 9th grade Health and Weight Room classes. Currently, along with coaching baseball, Coach Smith enjoys teaching 12th grade Anatomy and Physiology with a great sense of pride and loyalty in teaching and coaching at his alma mater. Coach Smith also coaches Wide Receivers for the Varsity Football Team. In 2015 Coach Smith married his wife Anna Marie, who is also a decorated alumnus of Faith Academy and the University of South Alabama (BSN, RN). While at Faith, Anna Marie graduated in the top of her class while participating as a leading member of the Cheerleading Squad which won a National Championship in 2009, a 2011-2012 member of the Mobile Azalea Trail Maids, and a scholarship winning participant and 1st runner-up of Mobile County’s Distinguished Young Women. In college, Anna Marie was a member of multiple Honors Societies during nursing school. Anna Marie currently works in Mobile as a Registered Nurse. Will and Anna Marie just welcomed their first child, daughter, Ada James Smith, in late December 2019. They attend church at Redemption in West Mobile and enjoy living in Grand Bay, AL. |
