Matt Seymour's Bio Continued
Coach Seymour started his coaching career in 1995, at his alma mater Baker High School, with his high school baseball coach Larry Andrews. In 1997, Coach Seymour went on to UMS-Wright as an assistant coach. While at UMS-Wright, the team won two State Championships in 1997 and 1999. In 2007, Coach Seymour joined Coach Lloyd Skoda at Faith Academy. Faith Academy won the AISA State Championship in 2008. In 2014, after five years under Coach Skoda’s leadership, Coach Seymour was named Varsity Head Coach. Faith has made appearances in the state finals in 2016, 2017 and 2018, with an overall record of 138-46. In 2018, Faith Academy won its first AHSAA State Baseball Championship. This was the first in school history. In 2021, Faith Academy won the 6A AHSAA State Baseball Championship.
Coach Seymour was named Coastal Coach of the Year in 2016 and 2018. In 2018, Seymour was also named 5A Coach of the year and USA Today’s 5A Coach of the Year. In 2021, Coach Seymour was named ALABCA Coach of the the year. Coach Seymour attributes all of his success to playing for great coaches, coaching under great leaders and talented players. Coach Seymour resides in Mobile, Alabama, with his wife Lori of 23 years and three children; Maddie (21), Jay (17) and Gracie (14). Coach Seymour is a high school history teacher and Varsity Head Baseball Coach at Faith Academy. |
